The Haunted Forest (On the way to the summit of Loma Prieta)

I thought for a long while about what image most conveys the feeling I got during my venture to the top of Loma Prieta. The trip up from Uvas Canyon via Knibbs Knob was a steep grade and hot by the time I got to it. The ridge road heading north toward the peak covered me in dust with every passing car and truck. The signs forbidding passage at each junction racked my free spirit. And the summit itself, nearly completely covered by countless antennas and tech devices But I went up there anyway, and was rewarded by a glorious bird's eye view of the world below from the north edge of the summit plateau. Dorothy on the Yellow Brick Road as she came to the Haunted Forest. I'm glad she didn't turn around as I'm glad I stayed with it as well.
