Where are you?

when you took this photo? I'm heading out there this summer to climb some little known rock routes on the West Face of Silver Run, so any beta would help. How long is the hike to Quinnebaugh meadows, road condition (is the honda ok?), etc. Thanks.

Re: Where are you?

Standing at the bridge directly below sundance pass about 8 miles in from the TH. The hike to Quinnebaugh meadows is a cake-walk - 5 miles 1000' up. Lots of people there headed for Lake Mary. I suggest finding a spot just above where the trail leaves the valley for Sundance pass

I will be back there later in the month to explore some routes there as well. That wall is one of the most impressive I have ever seen. I can't seem to find any information on it though. What were you thinking?

I'll also be there to climb Bowback Mtn.

Re: Where are you?

The SW MT Climber's Guide has rock routes ranging from 5.7 to 5.10 on that wall. All of them are in the 12-17 pitch range. Pensive Tower is one that I want to climb with my wife (5.7, about 14 pitches). The beta is pretty thin, even in the book. We might head up to climb Whitetail Couloir next weekend, and use it to scope these rock climbs. How did that thing (Whitetail) look when you were up there? I want to climb that thing so I can go back and ski it next winter.

Re: Where are you?

It looked quite nice over Memorial day weekend but it was really cold and the wind was really whipping so my guess is that it was very wind loaded at the time. I'm sure there is some fresh snow up there from this past weekend.

Check out the photos on the Whitetail page which I posted from that trip.

Re: Where are you?

Have either of you climbed Pensive tower? I am very interested in climbing it this summer but it is almost impossible to find people interested in these types of adventure routes.
