The keepers from a weekend...

The keepers from a weekend of fishing at the upper American Lake. Every fish I caught was a cutthroat trout and almost everyone was larger than 10”. I used a little beadhead zugbug the entire time. However, the fish were rising like mad so I probably would have done equally as well on dry flies. Other fisherpersons seemed to be doing well with spinning setups too. For more photos from my American Lakes trip check out my website: www.leachfam.com.

Very nice catch

Spinning or fly-fishing?-Only non-store western type trout I ever had was from this guy coming thru the tetons- he said hello and saw us cooking breakfast- and he said "you want a trout out of my cooler that a yellowstone guy gave me?" He said that fish meant Long John Silvers to him. Best breakfast I had in a month and he went to McDonalds-happy.

Re: Very nice catch

I was fly fishing using wet flies (nymphs) -- a little beadhead zubgug to be exact (this pattern has been working really well for me in just about every high alpine lake I've tried). There were people out their using dry flies and there were people spinning. Pretty much everybody seemed to be catching fish.
