The lap of luxury

Our campsite near Buck Lake was one of the few green places found on this hike. Dennis is getting the stove going to cook dinner with. What this picture doesn't show are the clouds of mosquitoes that drove us into the tent later. 7-19-09

Clouds of mosuitoes

July in the Cascades and Sierras often means massive quantities of skeeters. Nice to know we are not the only ones "blessed" by such fauna at that time of year :)

It was probably the only place in a lot of square miles that mosquitoes could exist. The rest of the area is totally dry and burned badly from a fire that devastated the surrounding area. I've experienced the Sierra and Cascade variety too, nasty.

Let's not forget about the clouds of gnats
and brine flies seen on Antelope Island in
the Spring ...

well ... maybe we SHOULD forget about them !!!
