The memorial is as part of K2...
The memorial is as part of K2 as is its base camp or its summit for that matter. In '93 not only did Art Gilkeys remains surface from the glacier, also [unfortunately] did we have to gather there to remember past friends and add plates for new lost friends from other teams. Therefor, a tribute.
