Route Hiked: East Lae'apuki.
Date Climbed: Feb 14, 2002
Hiked with Kelly (USA). We started our hike at 5:00 pm. We got pretty close to the lava flows.
We got scared when we saw smoke coming out of our shoes, and even more scared when we saw lava rivers flowing fast through the dry lava cracks.
Got back to the trailhead by 9 pm. An amazing experience. I´ve never seen lava that close in my life.
