The NE face of Buckhorn...

The NE face of Buckhorn Mountain's SW summit on June 9, 2002. Taken from the NE summit, the saddle is clearly visible, as are possible routes to the SW summit via the blocky terrain on its upper S face. Note that the approach to the NE summit from the Marmot Pass area would traverse West Peak (2112.5m/6950', visible just left and below the SW summit) and then attain the saddle by summiting the SW summit of Buckhorn or traversing through the blocky terrain of its S face (avoiding the lower cliffs). Also note the distant mountains within the Olympic National Park on the W side of the Dungeness River drainage: Mt. Mystery to the left and Mt. Deception to the right of the SW summit.
