The North Face of Peak 8,587

The North Face of Peak 8,587

Here I dropped off the north ridge when impassable rocks were met and had to cut across to the slope just below the summit. The close horizon with the stunted trees on it is a good route to the top. Its best to get into the basin just to the left of the photo and go straight up and forget the north ridge altogether. The steep slope further on the left margin is the foot of Needle Point and the furthest bump on the horizon is Glacier Peak. Its west side is not as spectacular as its east side. August 2008
