The private refuge at Ausangate base camp

It looks inviting, but quite out of place, this big building in the middle of the Cordillera Vilcanota. My guide told me that it's owned by a rich corporation in Cuzco. It's not used very much, but a caretaker keeps an eye on things. He also watched over our kitchen tent and supplies that we left behind while climbing Ausangate.
