The Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella) is a small (about 17 cm long) migratory bird. In Poland it can be seen in all mountain ranges. It likes open areas especially the edges of forests and mountain meadows and avoids the cities. The males are avid singers. They have bright yellow head, yellow underparts, and a streaked brown back. The females are much duller in color. This bird is under protection in Poland.
