This is the view you get as you close in on the summit. Nothing technical, most of it around class 1 or class 2.

Dunno if you have photoshop Dean but if so you may be able to lighten the darkness to even that pic out a little bit and perhaps make it even nicer. Crank it down to maybe 20% or so and the mtn won't be quite as enveloped in shadows. That is tricky lighting with a bright sky and a few clouds but the clouds block direct sunlight on the foreground.

Good tip and the interesting thing is that it looks fairly light on my home computer but dark on the one here at the office. I'll lighten it up as you suggest. I've noticed other pics that are dark on this computer but not on the home one's screen. BTW, I did see some crickets up there. ; )

Yeah monitor calibration can lead to all sorts of different results.

Your foreground is good now though the sky is a bit bright. In Photoshop the Image->Adjustments->Shadow/Highlights will actually let you balance this out so you have the sky like you had before and the foreground like you have now. It's a neat little tool.

As long as it is just some crickets and not a plague then that is OK.
