Why rock shoes? Was the entire route so difficult that rock shoes were required? Would boots or approach shoes worked for a good part of the route, most climbing/rapping?
Seems like a long day, long way for rock shoes.

Re: Why rock shoes? It's possible to climb 85% of the route in boots. The crux section (the 5.7 off-width notwithstanding) could even be climbed in boots, just that it'd be a little harder.
We only wore the shoes from the base of the ridge, not knowing what to expect. From camp we wore boots. We left them at the base of the climb. The leader (that was me for this climb) didn't wear a pack, the other two did. Nobody wants heavy, clunky boots in their packs, so we thought we'd just pick them up on the return.
The best option is a hybrid boot/shoe that is now on the market.
