The two highest peaks of Peru

The two highest peaks of Peru

Panorama of Huascaran Sur (6746m) and Huascaran Norte (6655m) from the east, from near Chopicalqui moraine camp. It's hard to capture the scale of these mountains. To put things in perspective: Chopicalqui moraine camp is around 4900m or so, the saddle between the two Huascaran peaks is just over 6000m. While the glacier leading up to that saddle looks easy, that's simply because it's too far away to really see the wild icefall very well. In addition, I saw several avalanches coming down there! 5 July 2011.
