It looks like the person on the left is leaning on a MSR Thunderbird ice axe. I still have one (orange shaft). Just wondering if it is one.

I wish I could say for sure. I'll ask my friend Vlad (the guy who took the pic) as it was his axe and I just borrowed it for the pose ;)



Its somewhat larger than most of the ultra light axes I see around these days (incl my Black Diamond) and I assumed that it was some kind of european axe. Vlad did most of his climbing in the 70's-80's I think and has been all over the world. Just between you and me I didn't want to give it back!
