The World War 1 settlement on Lipnik

From the barracks on Lipnik today only a few walls are standing. This is what I meant with Slovenian "Macchu Picchu", with a little exaggeration, of course. Behind are: Srednji vrh, No name peak and Hudi vrh. Note the steep grassy ledge, leading towards the notch between Srednji vrh and No name peak. August, 2009.

Exaggeration?

Well, I agree the statement is a little exaggerated, but the place does have some resemblance to Machu Picchu in my eyes :)
Anyway, however you look at it, it's a wonderful spot.

Re: Exaggeration?

Yes, ha, ha, of course, it's no match for Macchu Picchu. More my advertizing trick. But to be honest - when people here want to develop tourism, one would only need to renew these buildings, position a few explanation tables with facts and stories and this could be a fine destination. And, in addition, here we know what happened, in the real Macchu Picchu nobody knows why it was found empty. Or, may be, that's the highest attractiveness, who knows?

Cheers!
