I took the family to both units many times. It's easily the best place to hike in North Dakota. It's too bad that most of my photos were on my old computer.

Thanks! It really is a great place. If you do have any pictures you can still upload, please consider adding them to the page. All my pictures are scans of film prints; I have some more but have to decide if I want to get them reprinted.

Great job on the page, Bob! I'm really proud of this beautiful North Dakota landscape. The rugged land is a fine tribute to a truly rugged man - T.R.!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad the page passed muster with a ND native!

Teddy really did help in early preservation efforts. We have an
entire lake and recreation area named after him here in Arizona.
Another great page, Bob!

Thanks, Larry. I can't help but wonder, though, what TR would think of a dam-created lake being named for him. I wonder the same thing about Powell.

Excuse me for whipping up a bit of internet bravado, but Mister
Roosevelt probably would have exclaimed, "Bully! That's a dam BIG lake!!!"

"So few people" is really what makes TRNP so wonderful! In 2008, 593 backcountry camping permits were issued in TRNP. Compare that to 137,330 similar permits in Yosemite NP!

I'm Polish so I just can't be a fan of Roosevelt but I like Woodrow Wilson, American classics, badlands relief and this page.

Thank you. I'm curious, though-- what did Roosevelt do or say against Polish people? Feel free to PM me or send a link if it would be too off-topic to reply here.

Hope it's OK here as it was also part of Roosevelt's life although the text is British and as such, it may be biased - our national myth splits the blame equally - the answer is towards the end of the article

To Bob and Puma,
Thanks very much for revealing my ignorance. A fine example how emotions can blur the mind. I didn't even bother to read the part concerning a Roosevelt. I have no excuse but my father having been kept in a Gulag camp from 1945 to 1956 plus so much of my life under red rule. I am very sorry.
Cheers,
Jacek (now I've read it all:))

Don't worry about it; it's not as though I've ever made a mistake myself. I'm sorry your father endured that, and I'm glad you are now free of the Soviet shadow.

Cheers!

There's a lot of PASSION in American History! There should be just
as much passion in math and science; at least there should be here in Arizona!

Then, I could probably name some of the rocks I'm seeing.

In the summer season at Grand Canyon, 13,000 backcountry permits
are issued ... each day. That's a lot of revenue!!!
