Thanks!

It was the first time I've ever seen a bear in the wild, which was both wonderful and terrifying at the same time. Fortunately, it never got closer than ~75 feet to us and we were able to watch it for about two hours or so.

So hard to get good bear pictures, b/c usually the light is dim when you see them (at least in the East) and they are moving around. Great picture! (At first I thought this was in the 'Daks... we have a Pyramid Peak too, though obviously much smaller). Black bears are usually nothing to worry about if they don't have cubs, but then again, I wouldn't want to wrestle one;)

Glad you liked the photograph!

We were fortunate to catch it at around 2:00 in the afternoon or so and the light was perfect. I'm uncertain how or when bears on the west coast are normally active.

In retrospect, I tell myself that we were never in any real danger. While it was around, however, I couldn't take my eyes off of the bear as I wasn't sure how it would react to us. Let alone how we would react to it! :-)

Any estimate how big the bear was? 250lbs? Bigger? Hard to tell just by the picture, but looks like a decent sized black bear.

Unfortunately, I really have no idea. This was the first bear I've ever seen, so don't really have any good data to compare it to.

That's cool, I was just wondering. Glad you got to see the bear!
