Hasn't voted | I visited Death Valley for the first time this year in January. I was surprised at how big the area actually was. There are several mountain ranges and valleys to explore. I really liked the mountains because most of them are not climbed often and there are numerous slot canyons. | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 11:03 am |

Voted 10/10 | Melinda, this is really you! I had seen another photo of you and your family, but I can see you much better in this one.
Thanks for everything, Melinda,
Happy climbing,

Hasn't voted | Thanks Marc! You are always very kind with your comments. I figured it was time for a new profile pic. You’ll have to settle for a photo of me with the desert and mountains in the background. | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 12:25 pm |
| Noondueler | Hi Melinda! | |
Voted 10/10 | Nice to see another pic of you. Glad you could make it to DV. It's an awesome place. I've been on Thimble and a lot of the peaks there. It's one of my favorite places. Usually go there every spring. Have a great summer! | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 11:45 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks! It was a great place to visit during winter. There was snow on the shaded parts of Thimble Peak and the weather was perfect. I know spring is the best time to see wildflowers in Death Valley. | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 12:26 pm |
| lcarreau | Well ... | |
Voted 10/10 | Looking good! I volunteered for a work
assignment in DV several years ago. I got
to go swimming and ride my mountain bike.
You're right, winter would be the best time
to visit the awesome Mojave. Please, have a
GREAT rest of the summer. | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 7:24 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Larry! Winter is the best time to visit if you have good weather. Also during spring and fall when it is not too hot. It snowed a week before and after my trip. The temps were nice and cool. You have a great summer too. | | Posted Jul 4, 2009 8:22 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Great job, Love to get out in Death Valley sometime. Great pics as always | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 8:01 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks Mike! I recommend taking a trip to Death Valley. There were people at the campgrounds but the mountains were quiet. It must be because it is so desolate that few people hike here. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 9:40 pm |
| MoapaPk | close to home | |
Voted 10/10 | The east side of DV is about 2 hrs drive from my home, and is often the destination for last-minute trips in winter (e.g., wake up Saturday morning early, and say, "why not?"). Some of my favorite peaks there are not even on the radar for most folks. With a bit of snow, they are downright beautiful. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 3:26 pm |

Hasn't voted | I was staying in Vegas for a few days and noticed that Death Valley was not that far away. I was glad to finally visit this place. The snow does make it look beautiful and it was especially noticeable on Telescope Peak. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 9:42 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Wearing a hat in the Desert Valley. Nice photo congratulation. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 8:49 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thanks, you can tell I know a lot about fashion :)
It was cold and windy above 6,000 feet even though it doesn’t look like it. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 9:42 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Yeah, but it should be a hat with a brim. And eyes on the back. | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 11:39 pm |

Voted 10/10 | It was smart of you to gave it in the pocket.
I was there once conducting hot weather testing. It did not work to good. It was even raining in the morning, though we managed. | | Posted Jul 6, 2009 11:05 am |

Voted 10/10 | I didn't recognize you at first. I'm used to seeing your legs dangling off that rock! Nice pic! | | Posted Jul 5, 2009 11:54 pm |

Hasn't voted | Thank you! I didn’t recognize me at first either. No dangling legs this time. You have a nice marathon profile pic! | | Posted Jul 6, 2009 12:17 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Thanks. I thought I better post something to show what I've been doing, since I rarely get out on a mountain. | | Posted Jul 6, 2009 9:06 pm |

Voted 10/10 | I really need to get out to Death Valley for some hiking. It's been on the 'list' for a while now. I like the new picture. | | Posted Jul 6, 2009 11:29 am |
