Third map & route

This route cuts in half the distance that would be required to do the Bonny Stairs route and requires only half the elevation gain. However, you do have to allow an hour to drive the road, it is 13 miles from the US 50/6 junction to point DD as shown on this map. We ended up with about a 4 mile hike and 1000 feet of elevation gain. We were not able to drive all the way to waypoint DD and had to add 1/2 mile each way. Still not a problem if you enjoy driving rough roads. Our round trip time was less than three hours, not counting the drive in and the drive out.
