This is the middle part of...
This is the middle part of the climb (Pitch #3). It haws from the buttress out onto the NE Face. We had to simulclimb 8-10 feet for Martin to reach the rocks for a belay. Here is where having walkie-talkies would have been nice. The wind required one to yell even at close range. The climbing here is every bit as steep as it looks (as evidenced by the airborne rope). Martin's belay stance was on a 70-degree slope of soft snow. You can also see the waterfall at left. That was our next destination. Feb. 22, 2004.
