This is the notch in the ridge about a mile west of Ventana Double Cone, as viewed from the summit. It is possible that this notch inspired the name "Ventana" for this region, which means "window" in Spanish. There seems to be no debris evidence on either side of this notch that it was once arched. There's also no evidence that such an arch ever existed as more than an embellishment by the first caballeros to visit the region. Dec 29, 2000
