This mountain is a misterious...
This mountain is known as La Zapatilla peak (information given by our Pirenees expert, Rafa Bartolome) at the west side of the spanish sky station of Candanchú (Huesca). It was taken from the upper slopes of the tour-sky pistes of the resort at the end of January 2004.

Note for the skiers: the channel of left side is a hard descent out of pistes, the "tubo de la Zapatilla". This descend is difficult and only adviced for very expert skyers. People have died there.

is the good know peak of La Zapatilla. Very famous in the area for a hardest sky route, the "Tubo de la Zapatilla".

Rafa, I did the change. We were talking about this photo sometime ago, but I was not 100% sure. If you are, there is the correction. This is not a mystery any more (it was a mystery to me).

I agree with Rafa in all respects. It is the Zapatilla and the descent of the Tubo is only for extremely expert skiers. I would specially remark that this descent must not be attempted if the ski resort of Candanchú has closed the upper end or advised against out-of-track skiing. I know what I'm talking about, I've seen people die there. And one more thing, John: it's a fabulous picture, gives the Zapatilla a really incredible look. Ten points out of ten.

Thanks Eza,
I have written a short reference to its danger by the photo description.
