This photo shows the long, gentle, snake-like ridge from which Culebra Peak gets its name. Even a 7-year old can climb this ridge without much difficulty. In 1996, I knew that time was running out on easy access to Culebra Peak, so I took two of my daughters and a nephew and we climbed it as a family. Culebra was only the second Colorado fourteerner that either of these girls climbed. At that time, all you have to do to get on the mountain was make a reservation with the ranch manager and pay $40 a person. It was worth it, for me at least. June 1996 photo, scanned.
