| Lost the cairns on the scramble and went right instead of left up the little gully. This lead to a nice Class 4 route up the cliffs just left of the waterfall. Cool for me...a little much for my buds. Strange little memorial South of the hump just before the summit blocks. | ||

| 4:20 from TH to summit. A nice hike through a beautiful area. Grizzly lake was awesome. Unfortunately just prior to reaching the ridge the whoel area was engulfed in clouds and I summitted in near whiteout. I wasn't too cold though. There were at least five markers on the various blocks. It rained a little on the hike out. | ||

| Climbed Ceasar Pk and Thompson from the Canyon Creek approach. Took the hard way up Ceasar along the south ridge and then skirted the glacier on the north side to climb eventually from the west ridge and then returned to Canyon Creek across the south ridge. Beautiful area. | ||

| Hiked up from Hobo Gulch and to Papoose Lake near Bear Valley Meadows and yes we saw a bear! Not to mention the deer that ripped open our packs and ran off with all our clothes. Hiked around Wedding Cake and up to Thompsons Peak. Lots of loose rock but nice views. | ||

| From camp at Grizzly Lake, hiked to ridge and looked down on Lois Lake and then followed the ridge to summit. Found fire rings near summit. USGS brass caps on summit rocks were a little further than I dared to go. | ||

| Wow the Trinity Alps are alive and beautiful! Not used to climbing summits with all them trees.... Daytrippers will love this, but will also want to come back and spend 2-3 days for sure. Worst part is the drive out--not a soul or soda to be had for 3 hours! I recommend cutting across to the 3 at Weed (by way of FSRoad 17) rather than Weaverville. | ||

| Fun, but long dayhike. The waterfall and old growth forest we passed through was spectacular. We saw and heard quite a bit of wildlife, including a black bear, a couple of gray foxes, a spotted owl and a sharp-shinned hawk, which spent several minutes hunting Clark's nutcrakers. | ||

| What Rob said. Not as much fun as Cosmic Wall the day before, but it was still a blast... beautiful area, and this peak has a pretty cool summit block too. | ||

| Climbed with Matthew, dayhiking out of the Canyon Creek trailhead. Long day, started 5:30am, got back around 8:30pm. Routefinding past upper lake difficult. Permanent snowfields were easy to kick steps into. Easy access to ridge via several chutes. Matthew traversed the ridge directly. I descended a bit to the west and traversed until finding the 3rd class gully that most people seem to use. Unlike last year, this time I got up to the highest summit block (I guess I can no longer call myself the worst rock climber on the planet). We then traversed south over to Wedding Cake (~8500') via a 3rd class gully on its west side (east side is very steep). Unexpected thunderstorm in the afternoon around 4:30-5. Stunningly beautiful this time of year, many wildflowers in meadows above upper lake. -- Route Climbed: Grizzly Lake Date Climbed: 7-August-2004 No ice axe or crampons needed, great views. I managed to sign the register and checked out a memorial plaque on one of the other blocks, but the highest block (with two USGS markers) was just out of reach - probably a few inches higher than the block I found the register on. Fantastic ! | ||
