PoeIt reminds me of Poe's "A Descent into the Maelstrom". A wayward boater's worst nightmare.

Re: PoeIt's certainly an evocative place in all seasons. The well's probably more of a nightmare for a casual tourist than boater though...you're right up on it and not a lot of standing room on slippery rock!

Nice!My Dad has a place just south of Newport, so we have explored the coast from Florence to Depoe Bay. Great area, especially Old Town Newport.

Re: Nice!Thanks! I really loved the town and area too...Yaquina Head on one side, Cape Perpetua to the other...and that Rogue Pub Bed & Breakfast is a treat too!
