Tinaja on Red Cap

This is the tinaja ("tank") just below the summit block on Red Cap. The tinaja was shaded the whole time I was there, and it was hard to pull of a decent shot, so I hope this one works. This view is from the eastern end of the tinaja, facing west. Visible from left to right are Rainbow Mountain, Rainbow Wall, and Bridge Mountain. These tanks are a lifeblood for many desert species, including bighorn sheep. Red Rocks, Nevada-- April 2009
