Re: Nice shot, John

Thanks for the compliment David. I was going through some of my "old" photos (this is about 500 photos ago) and thought this one was worth sharing. Remembering that day and reading Rich's Round Top skiing trip report makes me want to get into the mountains again. BTW, thanks for adding Freel Peak. I'm thinking a ski descent of Freel this winter is definately warranted!

Re: Nice shot, John

Thanks Rich! Looking at this always reminds me of the frigid night I spent attempting to sleep there before I woke up to this beautiful morning. I didn't want to get out of my bivy but I'm glad I did! The Sierra is an amazing place :-)

Was there the same weekend

John: Beautiful shot. Michael Gordon ( Gordie's High Sierra Pages) and I were there the same weekend attempting the complete Mathess Crest Traverse and almost didn't make it out. I remember gorgeous morning, very low temperatures and the kind of scenery, you captured. This puts silly smile on my face, typing this in my LA office. Thanks for capturing the beauty of Tuolumne.

Cheers, Alois.

Re: Was there the same weekend

Thanks Alois. Sounds like you two had an adventure that weekend. I arrived Saturday night after the snow had fallen for the weekend and spent a cold night in my bivy. In the morning, I snapped this photo as Don Reyes and I prepraed to head up into Glacier Canyon to check out some ice. We were the only ones in there that day and I remember some gorgeous fresh snow that morning. I'm sitting in my cube in Silicon Valley now wishing I was on some snow-capped peaks again. I'm glad you enjoyed the photo and that it brought back good memories. Happy climbing, John.
