Tisha's and Princess Spires

Tisha's and Princess Spires

Zoom of Tisha's Spire (left - 5.7) and Princess Spire (right - 5.10) from 4,800-foot Cibola Pass. From this angle, Princess Spire is supporting a full grown juniper tree on her left shoulder. Notice the "cross-bedding" of the courser grains of sandstone cutting through the two spires. These spires are accessed from the opposite (east) side via the 2.2-mile Wilson Canyon Trail. A side trail leads up to the base of the spires atop a red-rock ridge between Steamboat Rock and the south face of the Accropolis. November 19, 2009

Billy was a mountain

Ethell was a tree growing off of his shoulder
Billy had two big caves for eyes,
With a cliff for a jaw
That would go up and down,
And whenever it did,
He'd puff out some dust,
And hack up a boulder
HACK!
Frank Zappa- 'Billy the Mountain' from the album 'Just another Band from LA' 1972

Re: Billy was a mountain...

I remember that one! Isn't that where Billy's wife Ethell was looking for a "Howard Johnson's" to eat at ??? : ))

Thanks for the memories! The last time I had
heard that album was back in the mid-70's.

Actually, I haven't climbed Tisha's or Princess Spires, but I did stay overnight in
a Holiday Inn Express ... does that count ???
