Overview

River Tolminka left affluent of river Soca, that springs up on height 683 from under mighty Krn and Bohinj mountains is to on own way slowly and persistenty gouged wonderful gorges. On altitude 180m, that also lowest point of Triglav national park is confluence of rivers of Zadlascica and Tolminka. Here is range called "Tolminska korita" ( Tolmin gorges ) that is long 1000m, to width between 5 and 10m and under "Hudicev most" ( Devil's bridge ) rockfaces lift 60m beyond river. Towards range of "Tolminska korita" belong also gorges of Zadlascica, that they are shoter and narrower. Long are approximately 100m, wide 3 to 5m and deep 50m. "Tolminska korita" they have still one remarkableness : spring of termal water ( around 20°C ), that is real rarity in Alpine world!

This range are known yet from once and they are extraordinarily popular excursion point of residents and visitors of Tolmin. Ways are organized around entire range, that they leads to most beautiful parts. Even Italian famous poet Dante Alighieri is here long ago in year 1319 found inspiration for own poetrys, when was guest of Aquileia patriarhs, that they had here summer residence.That is why are known Zadlasko jamo ( Zadlaska cave ) named like him - Dantejeva jama ( Dante's cave ), that is possible to examine her by escort of speologists.

Getting There

Town Tolmin, Soca and Tolminka valley can be reached from the south ( from Italy via Gorizia, from Slovenia via Idrija or Ajdovscina ) or from the north ( over Vrsic Pass from Sava valley or over Predel pass from Tarvisio ). It's also possible to arrive there from the west, from Udine over the Ucja/Uccea pass or from Udine via Cividale and then over Stupizza pass - these routes are reaching Tolmin. At centre of Tolmin you turn left per a local road, wich guides you to village Zatolmin ( time to walk from centre of Tolmin approximately 45 minutes ). All area is in Triglav national park.

It is necessary to pay off entrance fee in entrance of range
:
- children ( 7-14 years ) : 1,00 EUR
- adults : 2,00 EUR

...and very nice place to spent some days in this hot July (at least in Madrid). Yes, Slovenia is a small country but is plenty of wonders (and bears);-)

You are right Felipe! Right pleasant cool is here and also water is cold ( 7-9°C )and very very good to drink,wonderful area,to closeness mountains, intact nature, so that is real nice place.
