Route Climbed: Loveland Pass Date Climbed: January 29, 2005  Sucess!

Beautiful day, despite a forecast for snow. Fairly still and on the warmish side (for January) for most of the hike. After Grizzly Peak, it started lightly snowing and became a bit windy, but wasn't bad. Ice axe was a must, crampons were definitely a plus. An incredible and most enjoyable day!

Route Climbed: loveland pass Date Climbed: 6/20/04  Sucess!

Climbed grizzly peak enroute as well as two twelvers enroute, great day not another hiker till the summit. And only a couple of people then. Packed too much gear should have left the crampons and ice axe in the car, there was not nearly the amount of snow I had anticipated on. But well worth the extra mileage. Started off at 5:00 am and made it back to the car at 4:00pm,very long day.

Date Climbed: November, 2004  Sucess!

Did this w/ Grays, no visability and cold blowing snow, snow field blocked one trail necessitating almost reclimbing gray's again to get down, fun though.

Route Climbed: Horseshoe Basin Date Climbed: August 28, 2004  Sucess!

Had a great hike summiting both Gray's Peak and Torrey's Peak from the Horseshoe Basin trailhead which is a little more difficult but a lot more remote than the busy trailhead on the I-70 side of the peaks.

My 6th Fourteener. My friend Logan and I hiked Torreys, starting at 2 AM so we would see the sunrise from the summit. Awesome view!!! Made it to the summit just before the sun rose. Had it all to ourselves, until about half way down the mountain, when we started passing other hikers. Counted 143 in all (plus a dozen or so dogs), with more streaming up the dirt road as we exited; definitely glad to beat the crowds. Saw some mountain goats also!

Route Climbed: Loveland Pass Traverse Date Climbed: August 2nd, 2004  Sucess!

My second major peak on the traverse, awesome views, and the backside affords some great scree skiing down, though it is a nasty slog up the hill.

I like climbing this mountain...I felt it has a little more character than is lofty neighbor. Had the summit to myself for 20 minutes and didn't see another soul until about a mile form the trailhead on the descent...good stuff! Next time, it's Kelso Ridge...that look like loads of fun.

Route Climbed: From Grays Peak across the saddle Date Climbed: Saturday August 28, 2004  Sucess!

Left Grays Peak about 9:12AM down to the saddle and back up to Torreys summit about 9:50AM. Seven people on top and others on the way. Spectacular views all around and fresh snow on nearly every peak. Signed the summit log, stayed about 20 mins. Took my time on the way down and took lots of photos, back to the trailhead at 11:45. My 3rd 14'er and a great morning!

Finally got the views I went up there for, spectacular to say the least. The clouds that covered us on Grays were long gone, and it even warmed up.

My wife and I climbed Grays and Torreys today with a group from the CMC boulder section. Had a wonderful time. There were hundreds/thousands of hikers on the trail -- it was the hike with Ed Viestus day, which we did not know about.

However, looking at the positive side, I thought it impossible to find that many Americans that would be willing/able to hike for 8 miles and 3000ft. It is good to see that many people interested in spending time outdoors.

After hike up to Grays, I was wondering " should I hike to Torreys Peak or not ". Finally, I thought "what the hag, let finish two peak in one day." So, I did two peak: Grays and Torreys Peak. It was easy. I did not feel very tire after that.

Route Climbed: Traverse from Grays; Kelso Ridge Date Climbed: '70's, '80's, 90's  Sucess!

Have done this mountain 6 or 7 times, usually from Grays, but the best was doing the Kelso ridge with Aaron, using some of the rocks to practice our rock climbing/rope skills.
