Getting ThereFrom Missoula take I-90 west to exit 25. Take the exit, go under I-90 and get back on I-90 toward Missoula. Take exit 26 and proceed on Ward Creek Road 889. There is no exit 26 from the westbound lane on I-90.
Follow Ward Creek Road for 6-7 miles. The trailhead is well marked with a sign and is on the right side of the road. Ward Creek crosses the road just beyond the trailhead.
There are a couple of spots to park right at the trailhead or you can drive 100 yards further up FR 889 where there is much more room to park.
Special ConsiderationsThe initial section of trail runs through a narrow canyon and if you reguarly keep your GPS on for the duration of your hike, you may have trouble keeping a satellite lock.
