External LinkGeneral info, accomodations...OverviewOne of the following maps will certainly come in handy:
Kamnik-Savinja 1:50 000
Grintovci 1:25 000
Karavanke 1:50 000
The Jezersko Trailhead, almost a logistical center, is in fact several trailheads, crossroads, parking lots and bus stops around Zgornje Jezersko.
What is listed on this page are several trailheads along the 210 road in its section along the Jezernica (the Jezernica is the first major left bank affluent to the Kokra river).
Further down the Kokra course (road 210) we will find the Kokra traiheads.
Further up along the Jezernica, the road 210 leads to the boarder pass with Austria. The road becomes then the road 82 and goes downhill to the Vellacher Kotschna trailhead.
From the middle of the Zgornje Jezersko village (bus stop Jezersko Kazina) one may (looking SE) admire the panorama of the Makekova Kocna (Makek's valley). An asfalted road enters the Makekova Kocna:
Right outside the village, the marked mountain-hiking path for Veliki Vrh is signposted right hand.
Next: one of the Ceska koca Hut access routes starts left hand along this road (signposted, less than 1 km out of the village).
In the first pin needle right turn of the by now macadamized road (after the Parking space), the marked path towards the famous Cedca waterfall (also Ice climbing) is signposted left hand.
We may also continue along the macadamized road and drive to Mali Vrh (1300m) or further towards Veliki Vrh (bolted slabs left hand, 2 pitches).
A marked mountain-hiking path to Virnikov Grintovec (1654m, Karavanke/Karawanken range) leaves the center of Zgornje Jezersko (signposted, along the asfalted road due NW, splitting right hand at the last houses).

The bus stop Jezersko Jezero (Plansarsko jezero, the Jezersko lake) is more than 1 km above the village on road 210. From here a smaller asfalted road leads (due SE) into the Ravenska kocna valley. The lake is soon attained, as well as a guesthouse (drinks, meals). To the right of the lake the asfalted road continues into the valley, and red and white blazes are allready apparent. At the Ancelj ranch (the winter "trailhead"), the macadam road starts, crossing the flat meadows of Ravenska kocna. Circa 3 km from the bus stop, the road splits (sign post for one of the Ceska Koca hut access routes). The main road continues towards the lower station of the cargo cableway for both the Kranjska and the Ceska huts.
Demanding and very demanding hut access paths for both huts are signposted at the parking space around the cargo cableway lower station.
Ice climbing is highlighted, right below both huts.
***
From Zgornje Jezersko to Spodnje Jezersko the Jezernica makes quite a drop, as well as the road.
At Spodnje Jezersko (bus stop Jezersko Bajte), just above where the Jezernica flows into Kokra, a marked mountain-hiking path leaves from the Jezernica right bank to continue along the Kokra left bank, towards the Kosuta/Koschuta range (Kosutnikov Turn, 2133m).
Getting ThereBy clicking the coordinates in the primary info (above) and diminishing (or enlarging) one easily spots the Zgornje Jezersko location on road 210.
Getting There from the N:
Austrian road 82 from Voelkermarkt until the boarder with Slovenia; then the 210 down to Jezersko.
Getting There from the S:
Slovenian road 210 from Kranj, via Preddvor.
After leaving the Kokra stream at Spodnje Jezersko (Lower Jezersko, 758m) the road 210 follows the Jezernica, upstream to the village Zgornje Jezersko (Upper Jezersko, 881m) and further to the lake (Plansarsko jezero, 897m).
Buses drive in from Kranj (and Ljubljana) to the Jezersko trailhead.
Bus Info: enter Jezersko as a destination then choose (see Overview): Jezersko Kazina, Jezersko Jezero or Jezersko Bajte.
The main summits are above 2500m.
The gain in altitude is great, which speaks for the steepness of the summit accesses.
The forest line is at ca. 1500m.
There is info on approaching the range in the Getting There section of the range page.
This hut access map, allthough approximative, might help.
Red TapeUnless expressly signalized (barrier, signpost), and upon your own responsibility, macadamized roads are allowed and visible on maps (these roads are mainly maintained for lumbering and hut cable station access purposes).
Fishing & hunting is regulated.
Wild camping and open fires are not allowed.
The Kamnik-Savinja Alps are part of the Natura 2000 program.
