We parked at the lower mine as the snow was too deep to go any further, and snow shoed up to Kite Lake. As we ate lunch the clouds started consuming Mt Democrat, Mt Bross and the entire valley. We decided to call it a day and try again another day. As we walked back down to the truck the snow started coming down at a pretty stedy rate. The snow was about 3 to 4 feet deep in parts and the ground was showing in others. It would have been possible to get to Kite lake without snow shoes but pretty difficult.
