We were looking for a fall backpacking trip with some friends. Instead of joining the hoards in Shenandoah, we headed for Great North Mountain and the Big Blue trail. In three days we covered about 18 miles (casual trip, I know) and found some wonderfully secluded trail. The highlight of the trip was an ascent of the incredible Big Schloss rock formation with incredible views in all directions.
