I hiked up to Troop Peak many time. I can not remember when I went las time. I went to Dawsan Saddle at Angeles Crest HW. Dawsan Saddle is the high point in the high way (about 8000+). Parking space is provided at the north side of the road. The trailhead is at the south side of the road. I hiked up to the peak for about 2 hours. The scenary of the northern desert is beautifull. After 2 miles or so, I arrive the jountion of PCT( Pacific Crest Trail ). It should right to reach Troop Peak. I did. After the junction, the trail is easy. The last hundred feet of the peak is little steep. The view at the peak is beautifull.
I also hike up to Troop Peak many years ago through Windy Gap above Crystal Lake in Glordora, CA. From Windy Gap, you can hike to Mt. Islip, Mt. Hamkin, Troop Peak and Baden Powell. I didn't do Baden Powell.
From Troop Peak, you can hike up to Baden Powell. I did it couple times. The trail is class 1
