The road that leads to the blockhaus parking lot is closed from passo lanciano. Add about an hour to Chandra's trip log. We turned around because of bad weather and are looking forward to doing the hike to the amaro soon. if you do this hike very early in the morning and bring binoculars I have heard that the anfiteatro delle murelle, south east of the monte focalone, which is the first steep part of the hike, approx 2.5 hours after passo lanciano - is a great place to spot wildlife.
