Cop’s On Top high point memorial expedition trip report:

After departing Frankfort, Indiana, we drove approximately 2.5 hours to Hoosier Hill, Indiana’s high point. After arriving, we dawned our Jansport packs and made the short hike to the summit. Although not a strenuous trek, we arrived at the summit sign and reflected on the first responders lives that were lost during the September 11th attacks against our nation. After a brief moment of silence, we signed the summit registry and took several pictures to remember this very special day.

After leaving a Frankfort Police Department patch in the trail registry box and placing an American flag in the vacant flag holder attached to the summit sign, we made our way back to the vehicle. Although the ride home was just as long as the trip there, it seemed shorter because we reflected on what we had just been a part of.

Team members: Troy Bacon, Adam Noether, Scott Shoemaker, Jeff Downey, and Jason Downey (Jeff’s son).
