So I bagged Moses Mountain 8-21-05 out of Shake
camp "thats in Mountain Home state forest". Tried to follow Eckerts
suggestions on climber.org but ended up in the brush filled gully
instead of the "excellent rock" gully. My GPS track shows that
instead of making a b-line to Moses from the Tule river crossing, I
headed due west. The duff was nasty in the lower portions but the
brush was much worse in the upper. This route landed my on the
southern end of the main ridge to Moses. I ran the ridge for about
1/3 mile before making the peak. The ridge was high class 2 with some
easy 3, a little exposure at times. The summit was swarming with
flies and winged ants or termites. I half expected to find a
pile "if ya know what I mean" under the rocks. I never figured out
why they all the chose to party only here, but they made my summit stay
brief. From Moses I could see clearly many peaks in the area I have
already climbed like Dennsion, Homers Nose, and some of the peaks in
the Mineral King area. Mountain Home is a beautiful forest with many
old growth trees. Posted some photos from my romp here:
