I have never been on this mountain. I have heard a lot of nice stories about it, so i decided with a friend of me (Dimitris) to go there. We were there from 5. January untill 8. January 2006.
We stayed 3 nights in the beautifull mountain-hut of "M. Defner" near of the 3 ski resorts. It is one of the nicest huts in Greece i think. Clear, cheap, warm, nice and near to the ski resorts as well to the peaks around.
The first and the last day we did some ski. In the main ski resort of "Kellaria" it was crowdy and very "cosmopolitan"... the best cloths, the best gear, the prettyest women.... We skied also at the resort of "Gerodovrachos", its cheaper, smaller and more quiet....
In the second day we climbed several peaks of the main area: "Liakoura" and "Gerondovrachos". Deep snow and nice weather. Temperature between -5 and 1 d. C.
In the third day we tryied to climb a small gully (30m.) on the north-west face of Gerondovrachos. But there was no solide ice. Only soft snow and poor visibility. So we stoped after 15m. of climbing (see pictures here and here )
