The Elusive Shuksan

On July 29th, myself and two others set out to climb Shuksan via the Sulfide Glacier. The trail up is very brushy, and would prove to be more of a problem on the way down, when all the brush was soaking wet from a constant rain. The trail is clear of all the snow on the ridge, which can cause some problamatic postholing and route finding in early season. The first snow we came across were the snow fields on the other side of the pass after the ridge. The 29th was partly cloudy, and the forecast for the next day was calling for rain. When we were setting up base camp at 6300 ft the visibility was constantly changing, but all night, and all the next morning, visibilty was down to under 100ft. It rained thourgh-out the night, and started sleeting and snowing in the morning, at 6300ft!! By 8:30am we'd given up our hopes of summiting, and we packed up, and headed down through the rain.
