VoteVote on my page and photos please. I will return the favor. Thanks! My 1st Mountain ClimbI have come back and edited this since doing another climb with a few more details.
My brother had been trying to get me to go climbing for years. I finally cracked and went. He took me on something that was way too scary for me. However, I am very proud of my accomplishment.
16 miles round trip, 6216' in elevation climb & more bugs than I have ever seen in my life. We took 2 days to do it & it kicked my butt. Almost 2 weeks later and I still can't wear shoes. However - it was the greatest physical accomplishment of my life and for that I am very proud!
Harder coming down than up in my opinion. Especially through the woods. Lots of prime ankle breaking material through there. If you got a heavy pack on, and you ankle's are a little weak like mine - be careful!
Bring the freakin bug spray! My brother says this doesn't bother him. I couldn't handle it. Worst part of the climb!
Some steep rocks climbing up baby! And I hope you like snow. Big ass snow chutes going up. Well, at least there are 2. Now granted - you are getting a rookies opinion here, but in my judgment it is dangerous for anyone. Bring your ice axe anytime of year - and know how to do snow.
Complaining a lot about this one, but it is way worth it. Just don't push yourself too much, or you'll hate it. I guess that goes with anything. The views on a clear day are worth it. Not to mention the summit packs a POWER PUNCH! You know when you have gotten to the top of this baby!
I have come back and edited this since doing another climb with a few more details. My Training ProgramAs a brand new climber, this hike was most difficult for me. I never would of made it unless I had the mental endurance to continue beyond my physical limits. Check out the following program called the Man Kind Project. I strongly encourage any man to check it out, especially if you are a hiker. It gets you in touch with your "Wild Man" - something every hiker needs more of in my judgment.
I do not benefit monetarily in anyway from a man participating in the Man Kind Project. Therefore my promotion of this program is not a violation of the summitpost.org terms of service.
