My 4th Moutain Climb

So I am hooked! Climbing these mountains like an out of control maniac. This is my 3rd summit in 8 days. Now, it's not like they are class 5's or anything, but this one wasn't for kids. There was a very intense elevation climb to begin the hike. However it is all trail, so this makes things easier.

Getting there took forever - well almost 2 hours. The forest road seemed to go forever. I wish I had a 4WD Subaru Rally car, cause then it wouldn't take long. Was easy to find though - lots of signs up.

There were tons of people there. That was lame. About 12 cars at the trail head. Plus there were people coming up from the North side of the mountain as well. This was kind of a bummer.

I loved Welch Peaks. It is the first rock you see after coming out of the trail. I was tempted to climb this one an call it good. I am sure I will hit it someday.

Probably the highlight of the hike was the eagle I saw. I noticed what I though was a hiker on the tip of this rock in the distance. However, as I got closer I came up over a hill and realized it was an eagle. He stayed there for what seemed forever, and then soared away. It truly was amazing.

I liked the summit, because it was long. There was a lot to explore and many different views you could get depending on where you were. I thought this was pretty cool.

I must say I am ready for some off trail scrambling though. These trail hikes get a little old after awhile. However - nothing like being in the mountains for me. It's one of the only places than I can sit still for a long period of time. This is a gift.

My Training Program

A weekend training that I participated in called the Man Kind Project is tailor made to help any man become a better climber. I strongly encourage you to check it out. It gets you in touch with your "Wild Man" - something every hiker needs more of in my judgment.

I do not benefit monetarily in anyway from a man participating in the Man Kind Project. Therefore my promotion of this program is not a violation of the summitpost.org terms of service.
