Awesome hike. I worked the night before and I had gotten up at about 10 am...up all day. Worked that night and got home at about 0330 in the morning. Got some of my stuff together and tried to nap until Carl showed up. Couldn't nap so I was awake when he showed up at about 0530 hrs. We left for Mt. Aix.
Longer drive than anticipated. But we started off once we found it. Lots of talking and lots of walking. I always over pack so I was carrying quite a bit of clothing I didnt need. All up hill...as most hikes are. But we finally got to the top. Beautiful day...no wind and great views of Mt. Rainier's east side and Mt. Adams. Once at the top we hung out, saw some mountain goats, a tiny chipmunk, and 1 dude on his way up from the east/ Dont know where he started from. The walk down was the worst. I was tired, my feet hurt and my knees hurt.
We got back to the purple truck and loaded up gear. I was still tired. Got in the truck and headed off. I somehow could not fall asleep. Even after being up for over 32 hours. I ended up falling alseep for about 30 minutes on the way back. Wakingup just in time to find out we almost ran out of gas on the way back. We luckily made it to the gas station, I dont recall the name of the town. Afterwards we drove to a bar and had a nice cold beer and a fat ass burger. It tasted sooooo good. We drove home, no sleeping, and I stayed up until about 10 pm. Awesome hike, love to do it again, from a different direction.
