A Great Trip Ahead!!!
In May 11,12 and 13, me and my boyfriend/partner Natural, hiked one of the most famous route in Brazil, called Travessia, in the Serra dos Órgãos National Park. It’s started in Petrópolis town. We walked 32Km In 3 days in a hard trail, with swampy terrain and high humidity. At night, the temperature score 0ºC easily. But all this effort maked it worth because it’s one of the most fantastics places that I ever gone.
The 1st section is the ascension of Castelos do Açu, a giant altiplane over 2000m with low vegetation, like an wild grass called Capim de Anta. We spent 6 hours walking to the top of this mountain, where we fixed our tent in front of a lot of mountains of Serra dos Órgãos, seeing some nature facts like sunset and the sunrise.
In the 2nd day, we walked around 15 Km, crossing some mountains called Morro do Marco (2206m), Morro da Luva (2263m) and Dinossauro's Head(2160m), until finally reached the last passage to the summit of all mountains in the Travessia trail. This passage is very dangerous, with a exposure trail beside Vale do Jacó, 1000m down. After that, we reached at Pedra do Sino (2275m), top of Travessia trail.
In the last day, the trail reveals boring, with all descent trail made in midlle of the tropical forest. There aren't views like in the others days, but the trail is well marked and very swampy. After some 3 hours, we finished the Travessia trail, in Teresópolis city. I'll return in this route in 2007 again, if God will...
