Ski tour to Gross Grünhorn 4044m:We climbed the remote Gross Grünhorn 4044m with skis. We combined the Gross Grünhorn for a long tour: We started at the Konkordia-hut 2850m, on the Konkordiaplatz 2700m and went above the southwest side onto the Gross Grünhorn. This route has a lot of crevasses and is dangerous. Good conditions are necessary to do this route with ski. A lot of snow.
At the ski depot, you must still follow the south ridge in the 2nd degree to reach the Gross Grünhorn. After that we left from the Gross Grünhorn again back to the Konkordiaplatz 2700m. Now again a rise to the Grünhornlücke 3280m and behind down to the Finsteraarhorn-hut 3048m. A very long and strict ski tour with total 2000 metres in altitude and virtually always above than 3000m altitude. In a exhausted and tired way we arrived around 6.30 pm in the Finsteraarhorn-hut. The highlight of the ski tour season 2007.
Route: Konkordia hut - Konkordiaplatz - southwest flank - south ridge - Gross Grünhorn - Konkordiaplatz - Grünhornlücke - Finsteraarhorn. What a marathon!
