June 2017 update

I climbed this in June. To start with I was not quite able to get to the end of the road at the union wash Trailhead. There is a washout on this road. I didn't save the coordinates but if you look at the Topo it is where you can see the road crossing the drainage. BTW I was up here in 2003 to climb Mt. Inyo, and was stopped by the same washout. Also after walking the upper part of the road it's apparent nobody has driven up it for a while.

I started my Ascent by walking the rest of the way up the road and then just starting straight up the ridge.

For the descent, I opted to try the trail you can see switch backing down the talus slope and ultimately leading down into Union wash. Going downhill it is not hard to follow that trail. It is eroded in some spots but if you keep looking around you can always pick up where it's going. However I would not recommend trying to ascend this Trail because it would be much harder to follow it going up.
