Unnamed Class 5 Route

Unnamed Class 5 Route

It's not so apparent because of the shadow and the position from which I took this picture, but the shadow hides a corner and crack system that climbs about 55' to the top of the crag, matching the longest of the climbs at this spot. The area to the right of the route is a no-climbing area because it is too close to the historic canal cut, but the route itself should be okay (I did traverse right when I was high on the route, but I was without rope and chalk and therefore didn't mark the rock at all). The route feels about 5.1 or 5.2, that being based on other routes of those ratings that I have done in this area. This is an excellent route if you like a technical scramble but don't want to rope up. Great Falls, VA-- October 2007
