It is a globeflower. I am happy to see you are spending time in a few of my favorite places. Cheers.
Jon

You are right. Globeflower was wrong. It is a Primrose.

John: My research on this wildflower is coming up with: White Evening Primrose.

Sarah,
You are correct it is a Primrose. It's leaves are kind of distinctive. I was wrong with the Globeflower identification. Thanks.

Thanks, Jon. I'm always amazed at alpine wild flowers growing where, at first glance, there seems to be no water or nutrients. My husband and I own a cabin on 2 acres not far from the Tarryall Reservoir, so these are our weekend stomping grounds. We find great peace in this area.

Reminds me of flowers in Death Valley. The delicate beauty growing out of rugged desolation.

Thanks for the commentary. It is that exact contrast that caused this image to catch my eye!

I always enjoy it when people have an eye for the "little things"!

Eric,

I often get so busy/rushed during the week that it's a pleasure to slow down and enjoy the small details in the mountains on the weekends. :)
