USFS Firefighters

While we were hiking on Mount Rogers a helicopter buzzed us and then dropped some firefighters off by the Thomas Knob shelter. One guy came and talked to us and said that they were going to do a controlled burn. They burn certain areas of the mountain every 3 years to keep the area open from brush and to allow the grass to green up for the ponies.
