V-notch couloir on 24...

V-notch couloir on 24 September, 2005; note climber at bottom of photo for sense of scale. This is what the 'schrund looked like up close. Much of the couloir's alpine ice was covered in snow (I think probably as a result of the snowfall from a few days earlier as well as the unusually high snowpack from the previous winter), making climbing conditions less than ideal. Summit of 'Polemonium Peak' is out of the photo on the R side.
